Ageing ambition

AN EX-PAT Scot has announced her bid to become the oldest person in the world - at her 112th birthday party.

Jane Gray, originally from Newtyle, Angus, celebrated the big day earlier this month at her care home in New South Wales, Australia, and the feisty great-great grandmother-of-two feels just as well as ever.

At the birthday party on December 1, Jane - known affectionately as Jeannie - said she wants to overtake the world's oldest person, 115-year-old Misao Okawa from Japan.
