POLICE raided a teenagers' party and confiscated alcohol minutes before morning classes began.

Officers stopped and searched 28 youths aged 16 and 17 who were partying on the last day of term at around 8.30am on Friday morning.

They took more than 20 litres of alcohol from the students, thought to be from Leith Academy, in Edinburgh, who were intending to drink it before they attended their last day of school.

All of the pupils were given warnings and officers are now trying to establish where the drink came from.

Police were also called out to the city's Brighton Park, where school pupils from Portobello High had been reported causing a nuisance at lunchtime on their last day of school.
