Incivility, where an officer is seen to have acted in a rude manner, makes up 15.3% of allegations in the report Police Complaints: Statistics for Scotland 2011-12, published today.
The most common area of complaint was in the "irregular procedure" category, accounting for 36.9% of allegations disposed of during the period, where it is believed officers have not carried out their duty well. A further 11.6% comprised "neglect of duty", which relates to officers said to have failed to perform a duty such as submitting a report following an investigation.
