AN asteroid hurtled past Earth yesterday – more than 35,000 miles from its surface.
It was thought to have been one of the closest approaches ever made by an asteroid and was reported to have been viewed by both amateur astronomers and officials at Nasa.
The space rock, which was said to be approximately 11 metres in diameter, passed the Earth at a distance of 36,750 miles.
