AN AMERICAN heiress who ran a Scots hotel which played host to some of the world's most famous faces has left a £9 million fortune in her will.

Constance Ward, 84, ran the Kinnaird Hotel, sat amid 9,000 acres of countryside in Perthshire, which became a hideaway for VIP clientele. Celebrity guests to have stayed at the £400-a-night property include former US President Bill Clinton, Sir Sean Connery, Madonna and Tony Blair.

The building near Dunkeld was formerly Mrs Ward's family home.
