A FORMER soldier who had an arm and leg blown off clearing landmines in Mozambique yesterday completed one of the world's toughest ultra marathons.

Double amputee Chris Moon, 50, was celebrating after crossing the finishing line in the 135-mile Bad-water run through Death Valley, California, where temperatures hit 55°C (130°F).

The ex-Army officer from Strathaven, Lanarkshire, completed the gruelling course in under 42 hours.
