An artist's call

AN opportunistic phone call by an artist to Hollywood star Ewan McGregor resulted in him agreeing to sit for a painting.

Gerard Burns called his friend and asked if he would be involved in the charity project after he decided to paint 14 people who influenced him to coincide with the Glasgow 2014 celebrations. Mr Burns said: "I just called him up and asked if he was up for it and here we are." The work is to be sold in aid of UNICEF, which McGregor endorses, at Clydesdale Bank's head office in the city in July.
