Anger over snow chaos ... but one village isn’t fazed

Blanket school snow closures should only happen in exceptional circumstances, ministers have warned, with headteachers best placed to decide whether to keep their schools open.

In a letter to all of Scotland’s 32 councils, Education Secretary Michael Russell said decisions on whether to close schools should be taken quickly and on as local a basis as possible.
