Anniversary salute

The 61st anniversary of the Queen's accession to the throne was marked with a Royal Salute at Edinburgh Castle.

Gunners from the 105th Regiment Royal Artillery (Volunteers) fired the 21-gun salute to celebrate the occasion.

The Queen remained at her Sandringham estate as the day was also the anniversary of the death of her father King George VI. He died on February 6, 1952, at the royal estate in Norfolk after suffering from lung cancer.
