Another comic created by Scottish writer Mark Millar is heading for the big screen.

Jupiter's Legacy is set to be a major feature film to follow successes Kick Ass and Kingsman, both based on his comics.

Millar, of Coatbridge, has partnered with Lorenzo di Bonaventura, whose recent credits include the Transformers and G.I. Joe movies, to bring the comic to the big-screen.

Jupiter's Legacy tells the tale of two generations of superheroes.

Millar said: "We have the last remains of these old-school heroes and their mainly vacuous children living in L.A., a massive disappointment to the first generation of super-people and just lost, no real direction in their lives beyond advertising gigs and opening night clubs."

Di Bonaventura said: "What appealed to me was the emotional weight of the family dynamic in Shakespearean fashion.

"It is also unique in a world where there are many similar super hero movies".

Di Bonaventura is already developing an adaptation of Millar's comic MPH.
