A PRESSURE group opposed to same-sex marriage has stepped up its protest against the Scottish Government's proposed legislation, with more than a quarter of a million campaign leaflets delivered across the country.

Scotland for Marriage, which is largely supported by religious groups, said its petition opposing the plans had now collected more than 36,000 signatures, with around 375 names being added every week. The pressure group claimed the "extent of national opposition to redefining marriage is becoming apparent".

The Scottish Government launched a consultation on its draft legislation to legalise same-sex marriage in December.
