Scottish comedy fans are being asked to find lost footage and memorabilia for a new show at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.

Tickling Jock: Comedy Greats from Sir Harry Lauder to Billy Connolly will include archive footage from comedy stars such as Harry Gordon, Stanley Baxter, Chic Murray, Una McLean, Ronnie Corbett, Renée Houston, Anne Fields, Andy Stewart, Dorothy Paul and Lex McLean, among others.

A recording of Sir Harry Lauder's comic song Stop Yer Tickling Jock will play as visitors enter the exhibition.

However, the curators of the show want more material from comedy fans and are asking them to "dig into their cupboards, attics, VHS and photography collections in search of lost footage and memorabilia relating to Scottish comedy greats".

The curators are asking for footage of Francie and Josie – Jack Milroy and Rikki Fulton – photos of stars on stage in pantomime, backstage, or photographs of rehearsals that have not been seen before.

The exhibition runs from February 23 to May 25.
