ROUND-the-world cyclist Mark Beaumont donned a kilt and got on his bike in a show of support for Yorkhill Children's Foundation.

Beaumont, who was treated for suspected appendicitis at Yorkhill Hospital when he was three, was joined by Glasgow youngsters Saul Loveman and Mollie-Ann Logue.

The adventurer fitted a new set of wheels to mark being the guest speaker at the dinner at the Hilton in Glasgow tomorrow night.

He will be joined by Hue & Cry, who will perform an acoustic set of some of their greatest hits.

Now in its sixth year, the Yorkhill Dinner is the flagship event in the fund-raising calendar for the charity. In the past the dinner has raised more than £350,000 towards the purchase of equipment and facilities, including Yorkhill's MediCinema, the first-ever cinema in a children's hospital in the UK. Last year's event raised a record £113,000.
