Bank clerk jailed over £7k fraud

A BANKER who embezzled thousands of pounds from the Bank of Scotland branch where he worked was jailed yesterday.

Gary Ducat targeted an account he had access to, and siphoned the cash off to himself.

Dundee Sheriff Court heard Ducat could not even say where the money had gone.

The former Abertay University student, worked for Bank of Scotland for almost five years in Dundee city centre. He is now starting a prison term of five months and 10 days after admitting embezzling £7000.

Ducat, 27, of Aberdeen, broke down in tears as he was handcuffed and led from the dock.

A spokesman for Bank of Scotland said: "We take any incident of fraud very seriously and will ensure customers are fully reimbursed."
