Batman shooting suspect appears in court

The man accused of killing 12 people during a screening of the latest Batman film in Colorado has appeared in court for the first time.

A dazed looking James Holmes, 24, sat in court in a red jail suit with dyed orange hair and was warned he may face the death penalty if convicted.

He will held without bail in solitary confinement at a jail in Centennial, Colorado. Police say he is not co-operating with them.
