THE worlds he writes about may be dark and gloomy places where murder and mystery are often just around the corner, but now fans of crime author Ian Rankin are getting the chance to see themselves inside the pages of his next novel, even if that involves a gruesome end.
The Edinburgh-based writer is auctioning off the chance to become a character in his next book, with all proceeds going to charity.
The winner of the unorthodox prize – which has been offered by Rankin in previous books – will get to meet the author and discuss they part they are to lay in the new book.
