Beavers trial has had little impact on Scottish rivers

A CONTROVERSIAL scheme to reintroduce wild beavers to Scotland has had little impact on the country's rivers and streams.

Despite fears the animals would damage trees and divert rivers by building dams, a report has found little evidence they have had an adverse affect on the landscape.

However, the study warned the animals' impact may increase as they expand their habitat beyond the lochs they were released into.
