BREWER Andrew Barnett aimed to ensure that his pale ale would win over the crowds at the Barney's Beer Festival in Summerhall, Edinburgh.

Mr Barnett, who owns Barney's Brewery, took to the stage with his band Pygmies to serenade the 500-strong crowd of beer lovers who turned up to sample unique and unusual beverages from around the world.

The bi-annual beer event introduces Scots to new and a varied selection of beers, and gave visitors the chance to try out an interactive brewing experience in its Brew Lab, where they learned more about the process of crafting quality drinks.

Barney's Beer has been brewing six different beers on the premises of Summerhall Arts Complex for the last three years.
