A LAST bid to save the school in the 1981 hit film Gregory's Girl has failed.

Parents from Abronhill High, in Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire, had planned court action to save it and campaigners raised £5500 to start a case against North Lanarkshire Council.

But Save Abronhill High group announced its campaign was at an end after taking legal advice.

A spokesman said: "Our campaign demonstrated community activism and pride is still very much alive in Abronhill."

In February, the learning and leisure services committee approved the merger of Abronhill and Cumbernauld high schools next August.
