Big Society is dead, says charity chief

The Coalition Government's much touted Big Society is "effectively dead" according to a charity sector leader.

Sir Stephen Bubb, head of the English charity chief executives association Acevo, has warned David Cameron that progress has slowed or stalled in many areas.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, he said the Big Society was a strong concept but had not been communicated well or implemented consistently, and added: "Now the phrase is effectively dead."
