Bionic man ready to go on display

A MILLION-DOLLAR bionic man with artificial organs, synthetic blood and robot limbs goes on display at London's Science Museum this week.

Costing almost £640,000, it is cheaper than the Six Million Dollar Man from the 1970s TV series, but the 6ft 6in humanoid shares quite a bit in common.

It was assembled by a team of roboticists for a documentary, How To Build A Bionic Man, and incorporates many advances in prosthetic technology, as well as an artificial pancreas, kidney, spleen and trachea, and a functional blood circulatory system.
