There are still 794 black and white TV licences in use across Scotland, new figures reveal.
Experts were puzzled by the finding, which comes almost half a century after colour transmissions began and a year after analogue television was switched off.
They cited everything from eccentricity to fraud as possible reasons for why people would want a black and white television.
