Blockade boat loses its £400k mackerel catch

Faroese fishermen have lost around £400,000 worth of mackerel after Scottish fishermen mounted a blockade and stopped them landing their cargo in Scotland.

The estimated value of the fish, due to be delivered to a processing plant in Peterhead on Tuesday, has plummeted after it was halted at the town’s harbour by fishermen protesting against the Faroe Isles’ intensive fishing of mackerel in the North Sea.
