Body found on beach was missing man, 31

A body found on a beach has been identified as that of a missing man.

Ian Carruthers, 31, was reported missing from the town of Annan, Dumfries and Galloway, on January 17.

Police Scotland confirmed that a body discovered yesterday morning on the Solway Firth shoreline at Portling, near Dalbeattie, was that of Mr Carruthers.

A post-mortem examination has taken place and his family have been informed.

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding his disappearance are continuing, police said.
