A tower block was evacuated as bomb disposal crews investigated the discovery of "suspicious items".
Fidra Court, in the Muirhouse area of Edinburgh, was evacuated last night.
Residents were allowed back into their homes shortly after 3am.
Police Scotland said inquires will continue.
