Bomb siege drama ends

POLICE dramatically ended a seven-hour siege at an Italian restaurant in Glasgow city centre last night after a man sparked a bomb alert.

A number of officers with battering rams forced their way into Amarone in Nelson Mandela Place shortly before midnight to detain the man who had kept them at bay.

The stand-off had been sparked by reports he had threatened staff with a bomb after being refused alcohol shortly after 3.40pm.
