COMIC Kevin Bridges has claimed people from the west of Scotland appear to be growing younger like Benjamin Button because of the improvement in their diet.

Bridges, 27, said he and his friends grew up eating crisps, sweets and chip shop takeaways, and often traded breakfast for an extra 15 minutes in bed before school.

He said many of his former classmates now look "healthier and fresher" than they did in their school days.

"We used to eat square crisps and drink a carton of Ribena on the way to school and then at half ten in the morning, at first break, it was caramel shortcake, chocolate milk and a roll and sausage," he said.

"At lunchtime it was a chippie, then going home at night for a chippie. I see people I went to school with who look much better these days than they did ten years ago - they look healthier and fresher.

"We are all Benjamin Button sort of guys in the west of Scotland because we are aware now of what we are actually eating."

He added: "Breakfast was always optional. There was always the option of breakfast but there was also the option of an extra 15 minutes in bed."

He said he drew the line at eating Lion bars - because his older brother John told him they contained real lion.
