Britons hurt in Tenerife blast

A BRITISH woman and her daughter have been injured in an explosion at a hotel on the Spanish island of Tenerife.

The woman was taken to hospital with severe burns to her face and scalp following the blast at the Bahia Principe hotel in Playa Paraiso.

Her eight-year-old daughter suffered less serious neck burns and both are receiving treatment in separate hospitals.

A spokesman for the Bahia Principe said: "The explosion took place in a metal buffet container by the pool which uses a flammable gel."
