Butterfly effect

Four-year-old Maddie Mowat had a close encounter with a butterfly at the launch of a new initiative by Scotland's national tourism agency to get people to visit the country's favourite natural landmarks.

Thousands of free or discounted bus, ferry and train tickets will be up for grabs as part of the £3.4 million scheme.

VisitScotland chairman Mike Cantlay said: "The Big April Adventures is quite simply a magnificent opportunity for people to travel to the wonderful Scottish landscapes for free."
