Call for end to Army base uncertainty

GREATER clarity is required on when new Army bases are to be created in Scotland, it has been claimed.

Army personnel are due to be stationed at Leuchars after it lost its RAF function, with soldiers also destined for MoD Caledonia at Rosyth following an overhaul of military bases.

Leader of Fife Council, Councillor Alex Rowley, has written to Philip Hammond, Secretary of State for Defence, to demand detailed information about the transition, including timings and the number of soldiers due to arrive in the area to help plan local services.
