FOUR YEAR OLD Calum Lambert has amassed an incredible collection of 680 'bravery beads' - one for every procedure he has endured to combat his rare form of blood cancer.

Calum, from Murieston, East Lothian, was diagnosed with the rare and potentially fatal blood disorder Aplastic Anaemia last year.

His parents had noticed he started to eat less, became pale and suffered repeated bruises and nosebleeds. It stops the bone marrow producing enough red or white blood cells or platelets and is found in just 30 children across the UK each year.

Calum endured frequent blood tests, transfusions and chemotherapy, before a bone marrow donor was found. He received the life-saving transplant earlier this year and now his cells are almost completely healthy. He said: "My beads of courage are for being brave and for my red soldiers [blood cells]. I like to play with them."
