Cameron criticised over awards to his 'friends in the City'

PRIME Minister David Cameron has been accused of being "utterly out of touch" after a businessman whose firm profited from the failure of Northern Rock was knighted and a CBE was given to a charity worker once jailed for insider trading.

Labour's Shadow Cabinet Office Minister Michael Dugher said it was unacceptable for Tory donor Paul Ruddock, whose Landsdowne Partners hedge fund made a £100 million profit after betting on the bank's collapse in 2008, would be honoured for services to the arts in The Queen's New Year's honours list after he gave £500,000 to the Conservatives.
