Campaigners say coal power plant mocks Scotland’s green credentials

Plans for a new coal power station in Ayrshire “make a mockery” of Scotland’s much-vaunted green credentials, campaigners have claimed.

Environment group WWF Scotland said the £3 billion plant proposed by Ayrshire Power would be “damaging and superfluous”, and that it was possible to meet the country’s electricity needs without resorting to coal.
