plants suspected to be cannabis worth thousands of pounds were found growing at the home of former Tennent's lager model Karen Thomson.

Officers raided the home of the 50-year-old long-time neighbour of Celtic manager Neil Lennon in Glasgow's west end after a tip-off.

Ms Thomson – now a landscape gardener – owns the basement apartment below Lennon's home. Although it is understood she doesn't live alone.

No-one has been charged in connection with the raid in which police are said to have removed 50 plants.

Ms Thomson was married to Clyde Property tycoon Gary Thomson for 15 years between 1991 and 2006.

As one of the last Lager Lovelies, she appeared on the final pictorial cans in 1991.

She said at the time it was one of "the best jobs you could do".

She added: "You were well looked after, well paid, and there was a bit of kudos attached to being a Tennent's girl. We were like mini-celebrities.

"At events we just had to be ambassadors to raise the brand image.

"We were the icing on the cake, the dollies who came out, looking immaculate with our big lips, big hair, big earrings.

"It was all so sexist but it was great craic. I never ever got stressed being a can girl. I look back on it with a smile."

In 2007, Ms Thomson talked of her love of horticulture revealing her second career was inspired by the Channel 4 television programme Garden Doctors.

She said: "For as long as I can remember I've loved the outdoors. I am fascinated by nature and the process of how things are made and created."

She was reportedly dating Rangers legend Richard Gough in 2002 and is also a friend of television host Carol Smillie.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed officers had raided the flat.

She said: "No-one has been charged and police inquiries are continuing."
