Car crash coma victim is awake

A CAR crash victim has awoken from a month-long coma – but does not yet known that her partner, the father of her three-month-old baby, died in the incident.

The family of Christina Vibert, 26, say she is not yet well enough to be told that Ross Graham, 22, died in the crash.

The couple, from Edinburgh, had celebrated the arrival of their daughter, Cali, last November.

Hairdresser Ms Vibert was travelling to the Ikea store just south of the city with Mr Graham to buy furniture for Cali.

Mr Graham died at the scene after their Honda CRX collided with a lorry at Clovenstone Roundabout near their home in the Sighthill area of the city.

Mother-of-two Ms Vibert required facial reconstruction for her injuries and was put in a medically-induced coma on the day of the accident, January 6.

She was roused by medics earlier this month.

A relative, who did not wish to be named, said: "She's not really talking. She has been making noises but not really saying anything.

"I know she has been moving her hands.

"She's still unaware of where she is.

"When she recovers and finds out what happened she will be absolutely devastated."

Ms Vibert is in the Western General Hospital, where she is making slow progress.

Her eldest daughter Demi, six, is being cared for by Mr Graham's mother.
