Rev Dr William Morris passed away yesterday. He was 88.
He was born in Cardiff but moved to Scotland when he studied for his PhD and trained for the ministry, serving as assistant at the Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh between 1949 and 1951.
He moved back south and was ordained in the Presbyterian Church of Wales before returning to Scotland. He later took over as minister of Glasgow Cathedral in 1967, retiring in 2005 at the age of 80, just weeks after the death of his wife, Lady Jean Morris.
A royal chaplain, he conducted the Queen's Silver Jubilee and Golden Jubilee services when she chose to come to Glasgow Cathedral.
