A TOP Catholic bureaucrat who played a key role in the Pope's visit in 2010 has been appointed number two to Archbishop Philip Tartaglia in Glasgow.
Monsignor Paul Conroy, general secretary of the Bishops' Conference of Scotland, has been appointed vicar-general of the Archdiocese of Glasgow, effectively Archbishop Tartaglia's deputy. He will take charge of the archdiocese for October, while the Archbishop is in Rome.
