PROFESSOR Peter Macfarlane was joined by his wife Irene and sons David and Alan when he received a CBE from the Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace.

The emeritus professor and honorary senior research fellow in Glasgow's University's institute of cardiovascular and medical sciences was honoured for services to healthcare and pioneering the automated interpretation of electrocardiograms.

Mr Macfarlane, who lives in Bridge of Weir, said the CBE was in recognition of a team effort.
