Centre run by Purcell ally faces axe after cash probe
A CONTROVERSIAL gay and lesbian centre, headed by a close political ally of shamed former council chief Steven Purcell, is on the brink of closure after an internal probe uncovered a range of financial irregularities.
The Castro Centre in Glasgow, headed by councillor Ruth Black, is expected to be shut within a week amid concerns that staff wages have been deducted yet no tax paid to the Revenue and Customs. It follows information passed to Glasgow City Council by a whistleblower.
