Chain wins battle over whisky name

AN alcohol chain in New Zealand won a trademark fight with Scottish whisky watchdogs over the name MacGowans.

Mill Liquor Save wanted to use the name for a new whisky-flavoured spirit. The Scotch Whisky Association claimed consumers could be left thinking the drink was a real Highland dram.
