A CHARITY for people with complex or multiple learning disabilities has produced a supportive pack to help them cope with bereavement.

Dundee-based Pamis has put out the information because it says losing someone can have a bigger impact on bereaved people with profound or multiple disabilities.

Where the death is of a parent or carer, it may mean the loss of someone who provided continuous or intimate care or it may mean a stressful unplanned move from a person's home into a residential setting.

Meanwhile, people with profound learning disabilities may not be able to communicate their need and emotions in relation to bereavement and carers may not even be aware that they are grieving. A separate pack considers the needs of parents, carers or families who lose someone they have been caring for.
