Designers of the new Glasgow Commonwealth Games logo came under attack last night amid claims they had copied another symbol they made for a city arts group three years ago.
Glasgow-based firm Marque met with a mixed reception when they unveiled the motif earlier this week, with a price tag of £95,000 for the project.
Now they have been criticised for the clear similarities between the 2014 logo and a design created for The Common Guild in 2006.
Both logos feature a G in a series of partial concentric circles, but the new design is multicoloured whereas the other was monochrome.
Both Tory MSP Bill Aitken and independent Margo MacDonald raised questions about the design once the similarity was pointed out, though the Commonwealth Games organisers insisted their new logo was unique.
