Clampdown cuts airport offences

DRUNKEN incidents involving hen and stag parties at Scotland's busiest airport were dramatically cut after a clampdown by police and flight officials.

The Edinburgh Airport and Lothian and Borders Police campaign has resulted in a 71% reduction in the number of alcohol-related incidents at the airport.

The operation also highlighted a seasonal trend, with rowdy pre-wedding celebrations and other groups being mostly to blame for drink-related incidents in the summer, while in winter offenders tended to be individuals and couples.
