Class war

The battle to save the school featured in the film Gregory's Girl has gone to Holyrood.

Carol McMillan, of The Save Abronhill High School Campaign, was joined by pupils, ex-pupils, parents and residents as they turned out to meet their MSP Jamie Hepburn, and appealed to Education Secretary Mike Russell for a ministerial call-in over North Lanarkshire's decision to close the school, in Cumbernauld.

A campaign spokeswoman said: "This is the result of months of campaigning by the community of Abronhill against the closure of Abronhill High School."
