Ben St Joseph, 22, from Essex, sustained fatal injuries after a fall from Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis in the Highlands.

Officers received a report at around 11am yesterday that a climber had fallen and Lochaber Mountain Rescue responded to the call, with a helicopter from Prestwick also dispatched.

Northern Constabulary said he is believed to have fallen around 100 metres.

A report on the incident will be sent to the procurator fiscal, the force said.
