Contenders ready

A TEAM from Strathclyde University Rugby Club have flown out to India for their first ever World Cup event.

They will take part in the third Kabbadi World Cup, in the Punjab, between Saturday, December 1 and December 15. Kabaddi is a traditional combative sport played in 51 countries. It is the national game of Bangladesh, and the state game of Punjab and Andhra Pradesh in India.

The team is being sponsored by city councillor Sohan Singh, a local hotelier and chairman of the Scottish Kabaddi Association.
