Council opposes town centre move

A city council is trying to block a nearby area being given town centre status, saying it could affect city businesses.

Glasgow wants to stop Braehead being awarded the status, which it says would lead to further expansion of the site.

Renfrewshire Council wants to designate the area dominated by the shopping mall in Braehead a town centre for planning purposes. It also wants to increase retail space.
