Council staff 'took gifts and went to strip club'

STAFF accused of fraud at Edinburgh City Council's troubled Property Conservation Department (PCD) accepted hospitality including attending a strip club, a police report reveals.

The local authority could also be open to being sued after the PCD breached Scottish Government and European rules on awarding contracts to unvetted builders for emergency, or statutory, repairs to homes and firms.

The Lothian and Borders Police report reveals staff at the department – which is being disbanded – took gifts including trips to football matches, rounds of golf, meals and drinks and "on one occasion attending a strip club".
