Court bid halts move for Adelaide

A LAST-MINUTE court bid is threatening to sink plans to allow a historic clipper ship, which once carried thousands of emigrants to Australia, one final voyage.

The famous City of Adelaide was preparing to depart from its Scottish resting place to sail 10,000 miles back to its spiritual home after the Government gave the green light.

However, a conservation group from Sunderland, where the ship was built, asked the court of session to halt the move and have it returned to the north east.
