Crowds defy the weather to greet Queen

THEY waited for hours, braving the darkening sky and torrential summer downpours in red, white and blue rain jackets and Union Flag umbrellas.

As Glasgow strung out the bunting to welcome Her Majesty for a day of Diamond Jubilee celebrations, those who were hoping for a glimpse of the Queen got their chance when the clouds parted in George Square.
